Health Care Project

The contest

The Kodbir Mission is located in the district of Dinajpur, in northern Bangladesh, almost on the border with India and the nearest town, Fulbari, is 20 km away. Kodbir is an underdeveloped area where the majority of the population is tribal, lacking education and lacking government structures. Most families depend entirely on agriculture and daily wages. Our mission covers about 33 villages belonging to the tribal caste. Many people have health problems due to poor nutrition, and their hygienic condition is often insufficient. They believe in superstitions and many times do not know how to solve their health problems.

Description

We, Missionaries of the Immaculate-PIME, began our presence in 2010 and since 2016 we have a stable community.
In our community there are three sisters: one works in the parish dealing with pastoral and spiritual formation; one teaches in the parish school and another is in charge of the dispensary where people can receive a first health support since there are no hospitals nearby.
We would like to educate them to a greater awareness and knowledge regarding health, disease management, to give the possibility of a different nutrition. Help them with the supply of vitamins and supplements and support those who are poorest, elderly and sick, giving them medicines at low prices.
Our plan is to carry out health education programs in the villages and give medicine at lower prices to those who cannot afford it.
In this way, the beneficiaries would be directly the sick, but then also the people of the villages we meet.
