World Day of Prayers for the Church in China |
|
For the 24th of May, the First World Day of Prayers for the Church in China, Pope Benedict XVI prepared a prayer for the Blessed Virgin Mary of Sheshan, honoured at a Marian Shrine near Shanghai. To the heart of Mary, Mother of China, we also entrust the victims and the survivers of the earthquake in Sichuan.
The Chinese Catholic Communities in Italy shall gather on the 24th of May at the Papal Basilica of St. Mary Major, Rome, to celebrate together the World Day of Prayers for the Church in China as willed by Pope Benedict XVI. The Eucharistic Celebration will be presided over by Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
The Chinese community present to the celebration - more than 500 people coming from all parts of the country - will have several common moments: the mass on the 24th at 11:30 am, followed by lunch at the Urbanian College; and the Angelus recitated by the Pope in St. Peter's Square on the 25th of May.
Let us be united with the Holy Father in praying for the Church in China!
